City of Sails Auckland 2020

Extremely beautiful but equally extremely hot summer days at the Auckland City of Sails 2020.

Kartsport Whangarei as usual had a fantastic representation at this event.

5 x Snr Clusport 120  and  3 x Vortex Mini ROK

Whilst the end result was great for all participants - it was the little wins during battles on the track that really shaped the weekend.

Saturday saw the racing curtailed at about 15:30 due to the track breaking up in one spot. It was decided to run repairs and let them settle overnight. With that Sundays race program was slightly adjusted, finishing just before 17:00.

'Silverspoon' of the weekend (from our club) would have to go to Shannon Noble. Not a very happy day Friday in practice with several performance problems (thought he had it all fixed after some 4 engine changes) - Saturday- kart not starting on the grid for qualifying - under special consideration was allowed to start the heats but from the back of the field. True Shannon style - just kept battling (with a smile on his face) - managed to line up 2nd for the final only to snap a chain in one of the early laps!!!

Well done Carl Brennan - second overall in the Snr Clubsport 120. Kartsport Whangarei taking out 2/4/5/6 in that class.

Jake Millan leading (our clubs) placing with 5th, Cody Noble 9th and Harry Scott 10th.

Can't finish this off without a special 'THANK YOU' to Richard Macey from WRB Karting Supplies for coming down to Auckland to support the team, both with valuable advise and a bunch of spare parts to keep us all racing.

Big fields - epic battles
